Guests at Bethesda Marriott on Pooks Hill Road and local residents will have a new place to eat next month.
The hotel plans to open Coopers Mill, a restaurant focused on regional cuisine such as Maryland crab cakes and Virginia-style ham. The bar will feature bourbons and local beers.
A hotel spokeswoman said Patrick Lenhart, the restaurant’s chef, is creating a menu based on his childhood spent on a farm in Virginia.
The new restaurant is part of the hotel’s ongoing renovation. Rooms were redone with hardwood floors, open shelving, new technology outlets and updated bathrooms. Renovations to the lobby, which has free WiFi, and the new restaurant are expected to be completed by the beginning of August.
