This weekend is shaping up to have some standard mid-July weather, with mostly sunny skies and chances of showers scattered throughout. According to the National Weather Service, Friday will be sunny with a high of 85, with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the evening. Saturday will have a high of 92, with a chance of thunderstorms throughout the day. On Sunday, the high will be 90 with more thunderstorms possible.

URBNmarket Bethesda—3:30-8:30 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday—Bethesda Metro Center Plaza

Local vendors will be selling one-of-a-kind items at this upscale, handmade and vintage market. Both Friday and Saturday, shoppers will be able to find home décor, pet accessories, jewelry, toys, clothes, and food and bath and beauty products. Live music will be provided.

Montgomery Playhouse 14th Annual One Act Festival—8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 2 p.m. Sunday—Arts Barn, 311 Kent Square Road, Gaithersburg

The city of Gaithersburg is joining with Montgomery Playhouse to present the 14th Annual One Act Festival, featuring a rotation of eclectic one-act plays. The festival is not recommended for those under the age of 17. Admission is $20. For names and descriptions of the plays, click here.

Rockville Rotary Twilight Runfest—7 p.m. Saturday—Rockville Town Square

This weekend is the 30th anniversary of this evening race, which includes a family fitness Fun Run/Walk, an 8K wheelchair road race, and an 8K road race. Beginning at 7 p.m., the festival includes refreshments and music and will continue until after the race. The first of the series of races begins at 8 p.m. Proceeds benefit the Rockville Recreation Fund and the Rockville Rotary Foundation.  Registration for the 8K is $39 and registration for the family fitness run/walk is $12.

Blues Alley’s 50th Anniversary—8 p.m. Saturday—The Music Center at Strathmore, North Bethesda

The legendary Georgetown club, Blues Alley, is celebrating 50 years of being a part of D.C.’s rich musical history. It has hosted stars including Tony Bennett, Ella Fitzgerald, Stan Getz, Dizzy Gillespie, Ramsey Lewis, Sarah Vaughan, Wynton Marsalis and Gil Scott-Heron. At this anniversary celebration at Strathmore, there will be performances from artists representing genres from soul to jazz. Before the show, there is a “Party on the Patio” beginning at 6:30 p.m., which will include food and drink specials. Tickets cost $48-88.

Chopteeth—8 p.m. Saturday—AMP by Strathmore, 11810 Grand Park Ave., North Bethesda

Chopteeth specializes in “Afrobeat,” which is a type of funk music invented in Nigeria in the 1970s that blends modern jazz, tribal music and James Brown-inspired rhythms. Tickets cost $20-30.

Hotter Than July Comedy Jam—7 and 10 p.m. Saturday—Bethesda Blues and Jazz Supper Club, 7719 Wisconsin Ave., Bethesda

Joe Clair, host of 95.5’s Morning Show, is the emcee for this comedy show featuring Larry Lancaster, Vanessa Fraction and Freddie Ricks. Admission is $20.

Junior Detective Day—1 to 3 p.m. Sunday—Kentlands Mansion, 320 Kent Square Road, Gaithersburg

Adventurous kids can complete obstacle courses to receive their Junior Detective Badge. Gaithersburg police officers will help participants complete police training exercises with a focus on physical fitness. Kids can learn about neighborhood safety, witness K-9 demonstrations and look inside a police car. The event is $10 per person, and is recommended for kids ages 5-12.
