Da Marco closes

The longtime Silver Spring Italian restaurant Da Marco has quietly closed. The restaurant didn’t offer any specifics on its website, but the space has been closed for at least the past month. The restaurant’s phone number is disconnected. The eatery, which was owned by Marco Fortini, operated for 30 years at the Colesville Road location next to The Fillmore.

All Set Restaurant and Bar launches brunch (and introduces a fried oyster Benedict)

Silver Spring’s new All Set Restaurant is now serving brunch from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays and perhaps the most unique menu item is the fried oyster Benedict. “I don’t know if there is anything better than the creaminess of a perfectly poached egg, the crispy salinity of a fried oyster and the nice contrasting tanginess of my Old Bay tartar sauce,” executive chef Edward Reavis said in a statement. “Of course, I am a little biased.”

The menu also includes cocktails that play off the New England theme, including the “Block Island Sound” and the “Wicked Good Morning”—which is basically an iced Irish coffee.
