Da Marco closes
The longtime Silver Spring Italian restaurant Da Marco has quietly closed. The restaurant didn’t offer any specifics on its website, but the space has been closed for at least the past month. The restaurant’s phone number is disconnected. The eatery, which was owned by Marco Fortini, operated for 30 years at the Colesville Road location next to The Fillmore.
Ridgewells takes over food operations at Strathmore
Bethesda-based caterer Ridgewells is taking over the culinary operations at Strathmore in North Bethesda. Ridgewells will provide food for the mansion and music center as well as the on-site café. The caterer signed a fiveyear contract to provide food at the concert venue. Ridgewells is planning to serve a menu that changes with the seasons and focuses on locally sourced ingredients, according to a press release.
Finnegan’s Wake looks to get liquor license Thursday
The new Irish pub coming to Rockville Town Square is scheduled to appear before the Montgomery County Board of License Commissioners on Thursday in order to obtain its liquor license. Local owners Terry and Vanessa Laurin are behind the restaurant, which is planning to open later this summer in a 2,400-square-foot space at 100-F Gibbs St., according to Rockville Town Square’s website.
All Set Restaurant and Bar launches brunch (and introduces a fried oyster Benedict)
The menu also includes cocktails that play off the New England theme, including the “Block Island Sound” and the “Wicked Good Morning”—which is basically an iced Irish coffee.
