Three lanes of the Capital Beltway outer loop over Connecticut Avenue will be closed overnight starting this week for emergency bridge repairs.
The State Highway Administration announced that beginning Thursday night, it plans to start the emergency concrete deck work on the Beltway bridge above Connecticut Avenue.
SHA crews will close the far left lane at 9 p.m., another lane at 10 p.m. and a third lane at 11 p.m. and those three lanes will remain closed overnight and reopen no later than 5 a.m. each morning.
Crews will continue the work each weeknight until all work is complete. The SHA didn’t give an estimated completion time in a press release Tuesday.
The agency said the need for the repair was discovered through a routine maintenance inspection and that some construction equipment used for the job can be loud and disruptive.
