Police announced Friday they have linked a 17-year-old boy to two area burglaries after arresting him while he was armed with a handgun.

Police said they arrested Wayne Robinson, of Capital Heights, around 2 a.m. June 24 after a brief foot chase in Silver Spring.

Police had responded to the scene in the 700 block of Pershing Drive after a homeowner on the block called police when he heard someone attempting to open his front door. When the homeowner looked out the window, he made eye contact with a man later identified as Robinson, which caused Robinson to flee the scene, police said.

Responding officers caught up with Robinson and took him into custody. At the time he had a .40 caliber Beretta handgun on him as well as a credit card, police said. The credit card was later linked to a June 20 burglary, which took place up the street, in the 400 block of Pershing Drive. The handgun was linked to a different burglary that occurred in Rockville in 2014, according to police.
