Largent’s Restaurant & Bar abruptly closes in Gaithersburg

Former Food Wine & Co. chef Michael Harr had big plans to rebrand Largent’s Restaurant & Bar in Gaithersburg into a casual American concept called Kentlands Kitchen. However, that’s not happening anymore. On Tuesday the restaurant announced on its Facebook page it’s closed for business. Harr provided Eater DC with a statement saying, “For a variety of reasons Kentlands Kitchen will not become a reality. While I am personally upset by the circumstances that led to this decision I want to thank everyone I worked with, met from the community and supported and awaited Kentlands Kitchen.”

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.3”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

Unfortunately Largent’s is closed for business. We would like to thank you all for your patronage.

Ted’s 355 Diner closes on Rockville Pike

Ted’s 355, the diner with the old-school red and silver look on Rockville Pike, closed over the weekend, writes local blogger Robert Dyer. The diner opened in the spring of 2012, according to the Montgomery Gazette. It’s a quiet end for the eatery—no one responded to an email sent through its website earlier this week and the restaurant did not publicize the closing on its Facebook page or Twitter account.

Mod Pizza will join the likes of &Pizza and Blaze Pizza in the ever-burgeoning local market of do-it-yourself pizza places when it opens at 909 Ellsworth Drive in Silver Spring Thursday. The restaurant offers a stable of signature pies and salads, or customers can create their own pizzas by choosing ingredients Chipotle-style.

Renovations underway at Gusto Italian Grill in Bethesda

Workers could be seen inside the new fast casual concept Gusto on Wednesday afternoon in Bethesda. The new restaurant plans to open sometime later this year at the former Kraze Burgers location at the corner of Woodmont Avenue and Elm Street. In March, Gusto’s owner Josh Grim told Bethesda Beat he planned to open the location in mid-June. However, on Wednesday the restaurant appeared to be completely gutted, meaning it may be a bit longer until a firm opening date is announced.
