Montgomery County will once again host two fireworks displays on July 4 this year in Kensington and Germantown.
The Kensington event, “Mid-County Sparkles,” will take place at Albert Einstein High School on Newport Road. The event starts at 7:30 p.m. with a concert by Gringo Jingo, a Santana cover band. There will be two shuttles available to transport people from the Wheaton Metro parking garage and from the Westfield Wheaton lot next to Macy’s. The fireworks begin at 9:15 p.m.
The Germantown event, “Germantown Glory,” takes place at South Germantown Recreation park in Boyds. The park is located at 8041 Central Park Circle. A concert by the Tina Turner Revue starts at 7 p.m. and the fireworks begin at 9:15 p.m.
The county allows low lawn chairs, blankets and coolers to its fireworks displays, although alcoholic beverages are not permitted.
The City of Rockville is also hosting its own Fourth of July celebration. This year it will take place at Mattie J.T. Stepanek Park, 1800 Piccard Drive in Rockville. The Nighthwaks, The Fugitive Brass Quintet and the Rockville Concert Band are scheduled to play before the fireworks begin at 9:15 p.m.
