Pottery Barn and Pottery Barn Kids is scheduled to open Friday in a combined two-floor space at The Flats apartment building next to the intersection of Woodmont and Bethesda avenues.
On Wednesday afternoon, the exterior of the store didn’t look quite ready for opening—there was no sign above the entrance and construction crews were installing landscaping.
However, a representative from Williams-Sonoma, which operates Pottery Barn, said the interior of the store is nearly finished and it’s on track to open Friday. Local blogger Robert Dyer first reported the opening date.

The 17,900-square-foot store will be the first to open at the extensive Lot 31 development, which includes The Flats and The Darcy condo building, as well as planned retail and restaurant tenants like PAUL bakery, Chop’t, Silver (an upscale diner concept from Silver Diner) and the seafood restaurant PassionFish.
PAUL “Maison de Qualite,” a bakery chain founded in France, which has since expanded with several locations in Washington, D.C. and other parts of the country, will be located next to Pottery Barn. On Wednesday, staff members could be seen inside the space. An opening date for the bakery isn’t set yet, but according to a grand opening celebration invitation, a mid-June opening is likely.
