The Rockville man charged with killing his two neighbors is scheduled to appear in court Monday after being transported to Montgomery County from Alaska Friday.
Police transported Scott Tomaszewski, 31, from Juneau, Alaska, returning to the county with him late Friday night. He is charged with breaking into the home of 65-year-old Richard and 67-year-old Julianne Vilardo and killing the couple May 10. At the time, Tomaszewski was living with his parents on the same street as the Vilardos in the 13200 block of Ridge Drive.
Tomaszewski traveled to Alaska as part of a planned cruise trip with his parents after the Vilardos were found dead. He was arrested on the ship as it made a scheduled stop May 16 in Juneau.
Richard Vilardo, a hotel developer, and his wife, Julianne, a retired accountant, were found stabbed to death inside their home by a relative shortly before noon on Mother’s Day.
Tomaszewski is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of armed robbery and first-degree burglary. He’s scheduled to appear for a bond review at 1 p.m. Monday in Montgomery County District Court. He is being held without bond.
