Pools Open – Saturday, noon – Various Locations
Take a dip this Memorial Day weekend in one of Montgomery County’s public outdoor pools. The seven pools open for the first time this season at noon Saturday. The Bethesda pool is at the intersection of Little Falls Parkway and Hillandale Road. The six others are located in Silver Spring, Germantown, Wheaton, Gaithersburg and Poolesville. Entry to the pools for county residents costs $4 for children and $6 for adults.
Rockville Hometown Holidays – 2 to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday – Rockville Town Center
Rockville’s annual party in the town center features local bands, the Taste of Rockville and kids’ activities. The event features four stages this year where 32 bands are scheduled to play from the afternoon into the night Saturday and Sunday. More than 20 Rockville restaurants will also set up serving stations around the festival as part of the Taste of Rockville. The restaurants will offer dishes that can be purchased with tickets, which cost $1.25 each.
Rockville Memorial Day Ceremony and Parade – 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday – Rockville Town Center
Rockville’s Memorial Day celebration begins at 9 a.m. with a ceremony featuring the Rockville Concert Band and Chorus, followed by a traditional wreath-laying and 21-gun salute at 9:30 a.m. by the American Legion Post 86 Color Guard and Rockville City Police Department Honor Guard. The parade starts at 10:30 a.m. at Martins Lane and heads to North Washington Street. A full parade route is located here. The more than 70 parade participants include marching bands, drill teams, floats and fire trucks. More than 20,000 spectators are expected to attend.
WPGC 95.5 Birthday Bash – 7 p.m. Saturday – Bethesda Blues and Jazz Club
Radio host and comedian Joe Clair will host the radio station’s birthday bash and comedy show Saturday night at Bethesda Blues and Jazz Supper Club. Guest comedians include Alex Thomas, AG White and Doug Scott. The first show starts at 7 p.m. and a late show starts at 10 p.m. Tickets to the event cost $20.
