Two MCPS Students Named Presidential Scholars

21 other students will receive National Merit scholarships

Two county high school seniors have been named U.S. Presidential Scholars, the only public school students in the state to get the honor.
Patrick Cha of Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School and Emily Yang of Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville were among 141 students in the country to be chosen by the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars.

Cha, a tennis standout and co-editor-in-chief of B-CC’s student newspaper, has a 4.0 GPA and was recently named as a Bethesda Magazine Extraordinary Teen.

National Merit scholarships of $2,500 were awarded to 21 other Montgomery County Public Schools students, who will pursue the following college degrees:
