Bethesda-based Chevy Chase Trust has been named the top wealth management firm in the country by Forbes.
In the magazine’s annual ranking of the 100 biggest firms, Chevy Chase Trust topped the list with $21.2 billion in total assets under management, a 17 percent increase over last year.
Peter Welber, president and CEO of Chevy Chase Trust, said the ranking is “a great source of pride for all the employees in our firm. It’s affirmation that we’re doing something right by our clients. Our commitment to them drives us. Being No. 1 is a nice by-product, but it is not the objective.”
Founded in 1999, Chevy Chase Trust has more than 80 professional employees. The company is based in the Chevy Chase Trust building at the corner of East West Highway and Wisconsin Avenue.
Two other local firms also made the Forbes top 100 list. Convergent Wealth Advisors in Potomac was 14th with $8.2 billion in assets under management and Heritage Investment Management of Bethesda was 100th with $1.95 billion.
