Two separate fires over the weekend damaged a house on Wilson Lane in Bethesda and a deck for a portable classroom at a Gaithersburg elementary school.
The first fire started around 11 a.m. Saturday at a one-story brick house at 5415 Wilson Lane, according to county fire department spokesman Pete Piringer. He said via his Twitter account that firefighters had it under control by 1 p.m. and determined the cause was hot ashes placed too close to the house. Two adults were displaced by the fire. Damage was estimated at $90,000.
