Montgomery County Police arrested a former Silver Spring middle school employee on Thursday on charges related to suspected sexual conduct with a 13-year-old female student.
Robert Otis Wilson III, 23, of Silver Spring, is charged with one count of sex abuse of a minor and three counts of a third-degree sex offense against the girl at A. Mario Loiederman Middle School, where Wilson worked as a paraeducator.
Police said he had inappropriate contact with the girl from October 2014 until he left the position in March 2015. The victim was 13 to 14 years old during the time period. Investigators believe Wilson met with the victim at least once a day on school grounds during or after school. In one case in January, detectives said, the contact occurred at the victim’s home after Wilson went there and texted the girl that he wanted to see her.
Montgomery County police’s Special Victims Investigation Division began an investigation into Wilson earlier this month. He was arrested at a restaurant in White Oak at about 9 p.m. Thursday and is being held on bond. Police say he admitted to having inappropriate contact with the student.
Wilson also worked as an assistant track coach at Wheaton High School during the last two years. Police are asking other possible victims to contact them at 240-773-5409.
