A bicyclist advocacy group wants to show people how and where to ride through downtown Bethesda. WABA (the Washington Area Bicyclists Association) is hosting a "Choose Your Own Bethesda" guided bike tour along the Capital Crescent Trail, Bethesda Trolley Trail and other bicycle lanes throughout downtown on May 6, from 6:30 p.m.-8 p.m. The ride will start at the Bethesda Metro Station and end at Delicias Carry Out (4708 Highland Avenue). The roughly six-mile journey is meant to show off the best ways to get to and from off-road bicycle paths such as the Capital Crescent Trail, which runs through the heart of downtown Bethesda. Reserving a spot for the event costs $10 for non-WABA and non-Capital Bikeshare members. Those who wish to show up on the day of the event can do so for free, though there are limited spots. WABA, in conjunction with Bethesda Transportation Solutions, is also hosting another of its Confident City Cycling classes on April 25, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rescue Squad (5020 Battery Lane). On May 3, WABA and Montgomery County Commuter Services will host a Confidence City Cycling class in Friendship Heights, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in the parking lot of the GEICO headquarters (5312 Friendship Boulevard).
