Another new retailer is coming to Bethesda Row.
The Canadian company Kit and Ace announced Wednesday it’s planning to open a new 3,000 square foot retail location on Bethesda Avenue on Nov. 5.
The company mostly sells men’s and women’s shirts made out of a proprietary fabric it calls “Qemir,” which is pronounced ‘come here,’ and is composed of a washable cashmere blend. The shirts cost between $60 and $100, according to the company’s website.
A Kit and Ace spokeswoman said in an email the store will open at 4838 Bethesda Avenue, in the former location of Assagi Restaurant and Mozzarella Bar.
Kit and Ace was founded by Shannon and J.J. Wilson, the wife and son of Lululemon founder Chip Wilson. The first retail location of the company opened in Vancouver in 2014, by the end of this year the company plans to open a total of 50 shops.
“Bethesda exudes the dynamic atmosphere we seek when choosing our retail locations,” Shannon Wilson said, in a statement. “We are excited for this newest shop to live as an extension of the creative culture that surrounds it.”
The addition of Kit and Ace will continue Bethesda Row’s recent trend of adding fashion and home retailers to the shopping center. Other recent additions include Kate Spade, Calypso St. Barth and retailers set to open later this year include Williams-Sonoma and the jewelry store Kendra Scott.
The retailers are opening in the wake of several restaurants closing at Bethesda Row such as Tara Thai, Parker’s and Assagi.
