Local Leaders To Push Hogan For Education Funding — Led by the Maryland State Education Association, County Executive Isiah Leggett and other local leaders will hit Annapolis this morning to urge Gov. Larry Hogan to release $68 million in school funding. The money, which Hogan has vowed not to spend despite legislative approval, comes from a funding formula devised to help the state’s biggest jurisdictions. Leggett will be joined by Baltimore City Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake and House Speaker Michael Busch. [Maryland Association of Counties]

Council Wants Public Campaign Financing Funding — Council member Nancy Navarro and others want to start funding the county’s new public campaign financing effort now. County Executive Isiah Leggett didn’t recommend any funding for the program next fiscal year. A Navarro proposal backed by the Council’s Government Operations Committee could see the county add between $500,000 and $2 million to the fund in FY 2016. [The Gazette]
