Though the Academy Award-winning actress was born in Israel, Rockville was her first home in the United States. Portman attended Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School while her father completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at George Washington University Medical Center before relocating permanently to Long Island. Portman is best known for her portrayals of Nina Barnes in Black Swan and Padme Amidala in the Star Wars prequel trilogy.
