David Simon, Author/Journalist/TV Writer and Producer
Creator of the HBO series, The Wire, David Simon, started his career as a reporter for The Baltimore Sun before writing his critically acclaimed book, Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets. Simon, a University of Maryland graduate, attended Bethesda Chevy-Chase High School. He returned in 2012 to deliver the commencement speech at the school and said of his upbringing, “I grew up in Montgomery County, Maryland. I mean, damn. Nice work if you can get it.”
