Bethesda Literary Festival – Friday, Saturday, Sunday – Locations throughout Bethesda
Authors, journalists and poets will descend on Bethesda this weekend to participate in more than 20 free events throughout the downtown including book signings, speaking events and question and answer sessions. Friday’s events start at 7 p.m.; events take place on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. To see the full schedule and a list of the participating writers, head over to the Bethesda Literary Festival’s website.
Roseanne Cash – Friday night – Strathmore Music Center
Country singer Roseanne Cash—the daughter of music legend Johnny Cash—takes the Strathmore stage Friday night. She plans on playing songs from her latest album The River & The Thread, which in February won three Grammy awards, including one for Best Americana Album. The show starts at 8 p.m. and tickets range from $27 to $58.
Sugarloaf Crafts Festival – Friday, Saturday, Sunday – Montgomery County Fairgrounds
Artisans from around the country will be selling their works at this weekend's arts festival at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds in Gaithersburg. Works on sale will range from leather goods and jewelry to paintings and photography. The festival is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday; and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Admission to the festival is $10 at the door. Parking is free.
Filmfest D.C. – Films shown all weekend – AMC Mazza Gallerie, other locations in the District
Catch one of the more than 50 international films being screened this weekend as part of Filmfest DC. The event curates some of the best recently released motion pictures from around the world and screens them at several locations throughout the Washington, D.C. area.
