Kensington Car Show – Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. – 3974 Howard Avenue, Kensington
Check out sports cars, muscle cars and classic roadsters at the Kensington Car Show on Sunday. Food trucks like The Broken Fork and Corned Beef King will be on hand and the event will feature blues, roots and soul music as well as kids' activities.
Blackberry Smoke: Holding All the Roses Tour – Friday, 8 p.m. – The Fillmore Silver Spring
Blackberry Smoke, a country rock band from Atlanta, Georgia, is currently on their Holding All the Roses album tour. They will be joined by The Temperance Movement, a British blues rock band, and The Ben Miller Band, known for playing American heritage music with a modern twist. Tickets are available here.
Uncle Vayna – Friday, 8 p.m., Saturday, 3 p.m. & 8 p.m., Sunday, 3 p.m. – Round House Theater
Opening this weekend, Uncle Vayna is a modern take on a Chekhov classic. Re-envisioned by Annie Baker (Circle Mirror Transformation, The Aliens), this new twist brings Chekhov’s wit, insight and emotional depth to modern audiences in “a version that sounds to our contemporary American ears the way the play sounded to Russian ears during the play's first productions." BSO Off the Cuff: Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony – Friday, 8:15 p.m. – Strathmore
The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra is continuing its Off the Cuff series this weekend with Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony. Marion Alsop and Didi Balle, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra’s playwright-in-residence, will provide a dramatic interpretation that will guide audience members through Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony, “a heady mix of drama, vigor and passion.” Tickets are available here.
Sinbad: The Untold Tale– Saturday and Sunday, 1:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. – Imagination Stage
Join Sinbad the Sailor, who has retired from his life of adventure, his spunky daughter Ittifaq, and Sinbad the Porter, who is a street orphan, in this untold tale of Sinbad. When all of the adults get put to sleep by a magic cloud that settles over Baghdad, Ittifaq and Sinbad the Porter must team up to save Sinbad the Sailor in a quest full of laughter, sword fights and flying carpets.
