The apartment and condominium buildings on what used to be Lot 31 are targeting a June opening date, with some move-ins starting in late May. The Flats, the 162-unit apartment building at 7170 Woodmont Avenue, will host a grand opening event on June 18. The building, which includes a rooftop demonstration kitchen, outdoor fire pit and pet-sitting services, has started leasing a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments starting at $2,500 a month and ranging as high as $5,900 a month. The Flats lobby, rendering via The FlatsThe Darcy, the 88-unit, 9-floor condo building across the street, is also set for a June delivery and has already sold most of its units. A project spokesperson said the last remaining two-bedroom units are priced from $839,900-$1,709,900. There's one remaining two-bedroom/den unit at $1.71 million and one remaining two-bedroom penthouse unit with a terrace priced at $1.73 million. The Flats includes 197 parking spots in a separate section of the massive new public garage built under the buildings. The Darcy has its own secure parking section too. Developers StonebridgeCarras and PN Hoffman named it The Darcy after William E. Darcy, a farmer, store owner and postmaster who played a large role in the history of Bethesda. Darcy opened a general store in 1862 in what is now the busy downtown intersection of Old Georgetown Road and Wisconsin Avenue. Until the area was renamed Bethesda in 1871, it was known as "Darcy's Store." StonebridgeCarras and PN Hoffman entered into a partnership with Montgomery County to take over Lot 31. In exchange, the developers and general contractor Clark Construction built the 1,250-space garage below. Ground floor tenants at the buildings will include Silver (the new upscale concept from Silver Diner), Paul Bakery, Chop't, Pottery Barn and PassionFish. Renderings via The Flats
