The National Institutes of Health announced Thursday evening that the American healthcare worker admitted to the center with Ebola has been discharged in good condition.
NIH has withheld information about the patient at the health worker’s request.
The American was infected with the deadly virus in March while working at an Ebola treatment unit in Sierra Leone. The patient was admitted to a special isolation unit at NIH on March 13.
This marks the second confirmed case of Ebola successfully treated at the National Institutes of Health. Last year, Texas nurse Nina Pham was brought to the hospital after being infected by the virus while treating a patient at a Texas hospital. She was released from NIH in October after spending less than 10 days in the isolation unit.
