Norfolk Avenue
7920 Norfolk Ave. – Briefly an art-deco pop-up store
Owner: Douglas Development
An art deco pop-up store called As Time Goes By occupied this space on busy Norfolk Avenue for about two and a half months over the winter, but it moved out in January. Prior to the pop-up, the space was home to Berry Yogurt, a frozen yogurt business, which closed in March 2014. The 2,200-square-foot space is for lease through Douglas Development. It’s located between CrossFit Bethesda and the Rock Bottom Brewery.
Del Ray Avenue
4914 Del Ray Ave. – Former Naked Pizza restaurant space
Owner: The Khosla Cos.
Naked Pizza feigned its exit from Bethesda by initially saying it was closing for renovations in September, but later that same month “for lease” signs went up on the building’s windows. The 2,000-square-foot space still has Naked Pizza’s green walls and sign, but it’s been empty ever since the restaurant closed. The space is listed for lease on Loopnet.
Auburn Avenue
4800 Auburn Ave. – Gallery Bethesda retail space
Owner: Donohoe Development
This retail space at the new Gallery Bethesda building hasn’t been leased since the building opened in the spring of 2014. Currently the space consists of concrete floors and walls. The building’s developer, Donohoe, is marketing the space, which is located slightly off of Norfolk Avenue and tucked behind Steamers Seafood House.
Woodmont Avenue
8003 Woodmont Ave. – Weichert Realtors building
Owner: Heather Giuli, Cottontail Properties
This two-story brick building framed by parking lots on Woodmont Avenue is locally known as the Weichert Realtors building because of the company that previously occupied it. The building was purchased by chocolate maker Heather Giuli in 2013, who took out construction permits in late 2014 to begin renovating the first-floor into a chocolate shop and the second floor into office space. Earlier this year, boards went up around the outside of the building—possibly a sign that renovations are beginning.
7706, 7720 Woodmont Ave. – Two first-floor retail spaces in Lionsgate Condo
Owner: Unable to determine – leasing by KLNB Retail
These two spaces that front Woodmont Avenue formerly housed a health spa, Veria Wellness Center, and the Celine De Paris lingerie store. It’s been at least a year since Veria closed at its spot near the Woodmont parking garage, while Celine de Paris closed sometime over the winter. KLNB Retail is handling the leasing for the former Veria 3,500 square feet space, according to a sign posted on the window, but an agent did not return a call for more information.
