Average Rents Remain Around $2,500 In Bethesda — A first quarter 2015 report from Delta Associates shows an average monthly rent of $2,550 for Class A apartments in Bethesda. That’s the fourth most expensive in the D.C. area, behind Central D.C. (Penn Quarter, Logan Circle and Dupont Circle), Upper Northwest and Columbia Heights/Shaw. Class A high-rise apartment rents dipped by 0.7 percent compared to last year in suburban Maryland. [Urban Turf]

How Does Development Impact Metro Ridership? — Metro planners have come up with a model for determining how new residential development within easy walking distance of Metro stations impacts ridership at those stations. The model can help the transit system predict how many additional riders will come from a specific new apartment building in the pipeline. [PlanItMetro]

Firefighters Help With School Science Project — The crew from Fire Station 10 helped out last week at the Little Flower School’s 34th Annual Incredible Egg Drop. Fifth graders were asked to create protective devices for eggs to ensure the eggs wouldn’t break after being dropped. The firefighters helped by dropping the eggs off the top of one of their ladders, 70 feet in the air. [MCFRS]
