Week Ahead: Rain, Thunderstorms Possible; Baseball Begins

The Montgomery County Council is off this week before work on the budget begins

Get an umbrella ready – The National Weather Service is predicting a rainy week. Monday should be nice, with a sunny high of 72 degrees. The rain is expected to begin Tuesday sometime before 2 p.m., with thunderstorms during the afternoon. A high of 71 is predicted. The temperatures cool down later in the week with a high of 54 and 49 expected Wednesday and Thursday; there’s also a 50 percent chance of rain both days. Thunderstorms are possible on Friday, when the high is expected to reach 71 degrees.

Council, Planning Board on break – There are no scheduled hearings for the Montgomery County Council or Planning Board this week. Next week, the Council is scheduled to begin its work on the fiscal year 2016 operating budget.

Opening day – The Washington Nationals kick off their 2015 season today with their home opener against the New York Mets at Nationals Park. The game starts at 4 p.m. The Nationals are widely considered to be World Series contenders this year and were at the top of a number of preseason rankings, including rankings by Sports Illustrated and CBS Sports. The Baltimore Orioles start their season today at 3:10 p.m. against the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida.
