A County Council member is sponsoring a first-ever Earth Day Art Contest for local students.
Councilmember Roger Berliner will announce contest winners on April 22 — Earth Day. Winners will be invited to a reception with Berliner and be awarded prizes. All who participate will get a letter of recognition.
The contest is open to students in grades 3-8 and will include six winners, one from each grade.
Pieces must be two-dimensional and on paper no bigger than 17 inches by 24 inches and no smaller than 8.5 inches by 11 inches.
The winners will be judged on originality, creativity, connection to the community and artistry.
