Updated at 3:45 p.m. — Two Chevy Chase homes were evacuated Friday near a broken three-inch natural gas line.

MCFRS units were called to the scene at 3512 Raymond Street at about 1:30 p.m. on Friday.

Police shut down Brookville Road between Bradley Lane and Cummings Lane for the fire department response.

MCFRS spokesperson Pete Piringer said Washington Gas arrived to remediate the leak and that the nearby houses were evacuated as a precaution.
