Former Indique Heights Location for Rent
Part of the former Indique Heights location in Chevy Chase is up for lease. The 2,400-square-foot restaurant space at 2 Wisconsin Circle includes a covered patio overlook Wisconsin Avenue; it’s currently listed by Miller Walker Real Estate. Indique Heights formerly occupied a 7,200 square foot space at the building, and had plans to reoccupy a smaller space after closing last summer at the building. The restaurant’s owners told The Washington Post in September that negotiations with the building’s owner broke down over reconstruction costs and the restaurant decided not to move back into the building.
Piratz Tavern to Celebrate Closing April 4
Adios matey. Piratz Tavern, the pirate-themed bar on Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring will close after a celebration April 4. The restaurant was featured on the Spike TV show Bar Rescue twice—once in 2012 and again in a look-back episode that will air April 5, the day after the restaurant closes. The show attempted to remake the pirate-themed bar into a business lunch and happy hour restaurant called Corporate Bar and Grill, which was soon rejected by the owners, who turned it back into a pirate bar. Tracy Rebelo, a co-owner of the bar, was quoted in multiple news stories saying she felt unfairly treated by the reality show, which she thought would help her business. In a Facebook posting, the restaurant thanked customers who had come by during the bar’s eight years in business. Photo via Piratz Tavern website.
