Some big-name authors will take part in the annual Bethesda Literary Festival when it returns on Friday, April 17.
The 16th annual event from the Bethesda Urban Partnership will feature Mark Leibovich, national correspondent for The New York Times Magazine and author of “This Town” and “Citizens of the Green Room: Profiles in Courage and Self-Delusion.”
Valerie Tripp, author of the American Girl books will talk about her newest, “Full Speed Ahead: My Journey with Kit.” Rounding out the featured authors will be Jonathan Allen, the Washington political reporter, Walter Johnson High School graduate and co-author of “HRC: State Secrets and the Rebirth of Hillary Clinton.”
All events part of the festival will take place at locations throughout downtown Bethesda and are free.
Other authors include Eric Cline (“1177 B.C.: The Year Civilization Collapsed”), Susan Coll (“The Stager: A Novel”) and Sarah Pekkanen (“Catching Air”). Award-winning Washington Post writer Gene Weingarten and illustrator Eric Shansby will appear at one of six author events for children or teens.
The festival will include award ceremonies for an annual Essay & Short Story Contest, Youth Writing Contest and Bethesda Poetry Contest.
