The Bethesda Urban Partnership installed new information kiosks Wednesday near popular pedestrian areas in downtown Bethesda.

The kiosks, which cost $26,000, are located at the corner of Norfolk and Woodmont avenues in Veterans Park, at the Bethesda Metro plaza, and at the corner of Woodmont and Bethesda avenues in front of Barnes & Noble.

The kiosks contain information about local events, restaurants and retailers. An “Ask Me” team of partnership employees will be posted at the kiosks Wednesday through Saturday from 1:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. and on Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The evening and weekend teams will provide visitors and residents with information about parking, the circulator bus and the community, according to the Bethesda Urban Partnership (BUP).

The kiosks replace the information carts that previously served a similar purpose. Stephanie Coppula, a spokeswoman for BUP, said in an email the new kiosks are expected to be more durable than the carts and last for several years.
