Harsh weather caused Montgomery Parks to push back the opening of its athletic fields at county parks, middle and elementary schools, but the recreation department announced Monday the fields will open on Wednesday.
The parks department maintains about 300 fields for public games, practices and recreational activities, including the fields at Montgomery County Public Schools’ elementary and middle schools.
The cold, wet weather in late February and March caused parks officials to push back the March 15 opening date to ensure the grass is healthy enough to withstand activity.
