A single-family Glen Echo home caught fire Sunday night, causing an estimated $600,000 in damage and displacing one adult and two dogs.
Fire department spokesman Pete Piringer said on his Twitter account more than 85 firefighters responded to the two-alarm blaze at 6102 Bryn Mawr Avenue to put out the fire, which started around 10:20 p.m. An electrical problem caused the fire, which extended into the house’s walls and attic, according to Piringer.
A 911 caller first reported seeing a fire outside and arriving firefighters encountered smoke coming from the roof. There were no reported injuries.
