Williams-Sonoma Plans Fall Opening on Bethesda Row

The store will move into a large space formerly occupied by Tara Thai and Parker's Classic American

Williams-Sonoma’s new store on Bethesda Row will feature a new cooktop and seats for cooking demonstrations and classes.

And the store is aiming for a fall opening, according to Carrie Crespo-Dixon, a spokeswoman for the kitchenware company.

The new store is expected to be big—measuring 10,071 square feet, according to Crespo-Dixon—and will replace both Parker’s Classic American restaurant and Tara Thai on Bethesda Avenue. Both restaurants are closing because they’ve reached the end of their leases with Federal Realty, the owner of Bethesda Row.

Tara Thai posted a sign at its Bethesda Row location last week saying it plans to move to Westfield Montgomery mall this fall. Katie Crowley, a manager for Parker’s, said Tuesday the restaurant is looking for a new location, but hasn’t found one yet.
