Local Leaders Optimistic Purple Line Will Happen — Council members from Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties met Monday and got a briefing on the Purple Line, the 16-mile light rail that would run from Bethesda to New Carrollton. Leaders said they Are optimistic the $2.4 billion project will happen, though they’re wary of cuts to the project the Hogan administration might find to make it cheaper. [WTOP]

Restaurant Damaged In Fire Reopens — Two weeks after a grease fire shut it down, Peruvian chicken restaurant Chicken on the Run has reopened at 4933 St Elmo Avenue and is offering a 15-percent off deal this week. [Chicken on the Run via Facebook]

Historic Glen Echo Carousel Opens For 95th Season — The historic Dentzel Carousel at Glen Echo Park will open on May 2 and the park will celebrate with magic shows, art activities, face painting, balloon animals, park tours and performances. The carousel, installed in 1921, will be open from noon-6 p.m. on weekends over the summer and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. [Glen Echo Park]

Parents To Meet Over MCPS Chromebook Concerns — A group called “Parents for Responsible Use of Technology in School” will meet on Monday, March 30 at 7 p.m. to discuss privacy and other concerns related to the school system’s Google Chromebooks and PARCC testing.
