The 8th Annual Hope Connections for Cancer Support (Hope Connections) Celebration of Hope Gala was held on Wednesday, March 18 at the Park Hyatt Washington. This is the largest fundraiser for Hope Connections, a local nonprofit organization that helps people with cancer and their loved ones deal with the emotional and physical impact of the disease through professionally-facilitated free programs of emotional support, education, wellness and hope.
The gala attracted more than 280 guests and raised more than $225,000. It included a reception, seated dinner and awards ceremony, plus a silent and live auction.
Hope Connections for Cancer Support opened in March 2007 in Bethesda. It has since had nearly 57,000 visits to its “home” for people affected by cancer to participate in support groups, educational workshops, mind/body classes and community programs. The organization has a 16-member working board and a 17-member Medical Advisory Board comprising oncologists and other medical professionals from local hospitals and private practice who contribute their personal expertise and that of their colleagues through a variety of education programs.
