Rockville Pike and Cedar Lane Have New Lighting — The State Highway Administration had added new lighting to three of the four corners at the Cedar Lane and Rockville Pike intersection. The SHA says the new, temporary LED lighting is important for pedestrian and driver visibility, especially with ongoing construction. [SHA]

Franchot Not Happy With Budget — Comptroller Peter Franchot is against taking money from the state’s pension fund to restore education and health cuts Gov. Larry Hogan made in his budget. The House of Delegates approved a budget that uses some pension funds to do that, a move Franchot said, ‘You just can’t do.” [WAMU]

Edwards Gets Major Endorsement — Powerful political action committee Emily’s List on Thursday endorsed Rep. Donna Edwards for Barbara Mikulski’s soon-to-be-vacant Senate seat. The endorsement likely means substantial financial support for Edwards’ campaign, which will go up against Rep. Chris Van Hollen and perhaps Democratic members of the House. After the endorsement, Van Hollen put out a press release touting endorsements from local Democratic women. [Washington Post]

Columbia Development Pitches Bethesda Row As Its Goal — A mixed-use development project near the Mall in Columbia got the go-ahead Thursday from the Howard County Planning Board. The developer pitched it by saying it would mimic the streetscape of Bethesda Row. [Baltimore Sun]
