Register Now For Bike To Work Day In Bethesda, White Flint

March 18, 2015 1:30 p.m.

Registration opened today for Bike to Work Day, which on May 15 will come to six Bethesda-area “pit stops” with free t-shirts, refreshments and chances to win bicycles and other prizes.

The event, organized on a regional level by Commuter Connections and the Washington Area Bicyclist Association (WABA), is to promote bicycle commuting throughout the D.C. area.

Local sponsors get involved at each pit stop, where bicycle commuters can stop on the way to work. Those who register get the free t-shirt and are entered into raffles and contests for the other prizes.

The Bethesda pit stop at Woodmont Avenue and Bethesda Avenue (near the Capital Crescent Trail tunnel) has traditionally been one of the area’s most well-attended.

This year’s Bethesda event will run from 6:30 a.m.-8:30 a.m. and includes a number of local business sponsors and giveaways.

Other pit stops are scheduled for Friendship Heights (5311 Friendship Boulevard), Naval Support Activity – Bethesda (South Gate near the helipad), across the street at NIH (in front of Building 1), Rock Springs Business Park (Marriott headquarters at 10400 Fernwood Road) and White Flint (at the Nuclear Regulator Commission at 11555 Rockville Pike).
