Redskins Great John Riggins to Appear at Hard Times Cafe
Former Washington Redskins running back John Riggins, who helped lead the team to a Super Bowl during the 1982 season will appear at Hard Times Café in Bethesda on Friday. Riggins will be cooking his spicy pork sausages, which are now on sale at Hard Times locations. The NFL Hall of Famer is scheduled to appear at 5 p.m. at the restaurant at 4920 Del Ray Avenue.
Riggins, a Cabin John resident, is becoming somewhat of an accomplished chef in recent years. He hosts a weekly cooking show on Comcast SportsNet TV, called Riggo on the Range, in which he hunts and fishes with celebrity guests and then prepares a meal using the prey with chefs at area restaurants or in his home kitchen.

Patios Begin to Open

On Wednesday, people were dining outside at Olazzo on Norfolk Avenue and Starbucks has its tables and umbrellas out at its Woodmont Avenue location. The National Weather Service expects temperatures this weekend to reach into the upper 50s, although rain is expected Friday night and Saturday. Sunday could be a better day for a meal outside—the weather service is predicting a sunny day with temperatures in the 50s.
