JBG Spokesman Says Company is Identifying Opportunities for North Bethesda Site – The JBG Cos. is marketing a major North Bethesda lot—complete with money-making properties and huge development potential—but that doesn’t mean the developer will sell it, according to the Washington Business Journal. Charlie Maier, a spokesman for the developer, told the paper it routinely markets properties to identify potential opportunities, but that doesn’t mean “that JBG is withdrawing its commitment to a property, or that a sale is imminent.”

JBG previously guided the property through Montgomery County’s development approval process and is planning a 300-foot-tall apartment building as well as smaller retail and residential buildings on the 3.8-acre site. Bethesda Beat reported last month the company was marketing the property for sale, but at the time JBG declined requests to comment on their plans. The lot is located next to the JBG-developed North Bethesda Market, which the company sold to Chicago-based Capri Capital Partners, first by selling a majority interest to Capri in 2011 then selling the rest of its ownership stake to Capri in 2014.

Another Fashion Boutique Headed to Shops at Wildwood – Coca Blanca, a retail fashion store with a location in downtown Alexandria, Virginia, is planning to open a store at the Shops at Wildwood in Bethesda. The store’s clothing adheres to a specific look, according to its website: “A refreshing blend of sophisticated whites and neutrals, elegant tone on tone textures and delightful splashes of turquoise.” Coca Blanca announced the new store on its Facebook page in February. Last month another fashion boutique, Hadlee, announced it planned to open a store at the retail center.

Douglas Development Asks for Delay to Submit Wisconsin Avenue Building Plans – Douglas Development has filed an extension request with the Montgomery County Planning Board to delay a review of the company’s 8008 Wisconsin Ave. apartment project. An attorney for the developer wrote in a memo to the board that it has had to make changes to the building design because the state may expand the right-of-way in front of the building to make way for a Bus Rapid Transit system. As a result, Douglas is now hoping to present its latest plans for the 14-story, 130-unit apartment building in June.  The planning board is scheduled to review the extension request March 19.
