First Signs of Spring? – The temperatures are turning. The National Weather Service is predicting a spring-like week, finally, with high temperatures regularly in the 50s. Today is expected to be partly sunny with a high near 55. Rain is likely Tuesday afternoon with a high near 52 and a low around 45 degrees at night. Showers are also expected Wednesday morning, but the day should be balmy with a high predicted near 60 degrees. There’s also a chance of rain Thursday and Friday when temperatures are expected to reach into the low 50s both days.
Police Body Camera Briefing – The Montgomery County Council’s Public Safety Committee will hold a briefing with several county police officials Monday afternoon to discuss the pros and cons of police body cameras. The county’s police department has been researching the use of body cameras for the past year. Issues expected to be discussed Monday include privacy concerns, cost implications and a pilot program the county plans to initiate later this year, according to the agenda.
Taxi Discussion Continues – The council’s transportation committee will continue its discussion Tuesday of how to regulate taxis and rideshare services in the county. The committee will examine three bills that aim to create new ID cards for drivers, set up a centralized dispatch system and serve individuals with disabilities.
White Flint Downtown Implementation Advisory Committee Meeting – Will Lerner Enterprises soon announce they plan to move forward with redeveloping the White Flint Mall after winning a big court decision last week? Is JBG really selling the North Bethesda Market II land? Possible answers to those two questions may come out of Tuesday morning’s meeting with development officials and others regarding White Flint, now known as the Pike District. Montgomery County Council member Roger Berliner is scheduled to appear at the 8 a.m. meeting in the PerSei apartment building lounge at 900 PerSei Place in North Bethesda.
