NWS Bumps Up Snowfall Prediction For Thursday

A revised Winter Storm Warning from the National Weather Service is predicting snow accumulations of 8-10 inches for Montgomery County on Thursday, up from the 4-8 predicted earlier Thursday.

Between 2 and 4 inches have already hit the area, with rates of an inch of snow or more per hour possible throughout the afternoon:

* PRECIPITATION TYPES…SNOW…HEAVY AT TIMES.
* ACCUMULATIONS…6 TO 10 INCHES OF SNOW.
* TIMING…SNOW WILL BE HEAVIEST THROUGH 3 PM THIS AFTERNOON. SNOW WILL END BETWEEN 5 PM AND 7 PM LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING.
* TEMPERATURES…FALLING THROUGH THE 20S.
* WINDS…NORTH 10 TO 15 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 20 MPH.
* IMPACTS…ROADS WILL REMAIN SNOW COVERED AND SLIPPERY. VISIBILITY WILL BE REDUCED BELOW ONE-QUARTER MILE AT TIMES…MAKING TRAVELING DANGEROUS.
