Summer House Santa Monica begins brunch menu; cocktail classes at Redwood

ShopHouse Scheduled to Open March 7 at Pike & Rose

The restaurant openings continue at Pike & Rose in North Bethesda. This week it’s ShopHouse Southeast Asian Kitchen, the Southeast Asian cuisine chainlet from Chipotle. The company announced in a press released Wednesday morning that it’s set a March 7 opening date for the new location at 11584 Old Georgetown Road.

As part of the grand opening, the restaurant will offer guests a free entrée from noon to 7 p.m. There is a ShopHouse on Bethesda Row and nine others are located in the Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles areas. The restaurant offers customers choices of meats, vegetables and sauces that are served in rice or noodle bowls.

Other recent openings at Pike & Rose include Stella Barra Pizzeria and la Madeleine.

Summer House Santa Monica Begins Offering Brunch Feb. 28

In other Pike & Rose news, the new California-inspired restaurant Summer House Santa Monica will begin to offer its brunch menu this weekend. The brunch is popular at Summer House’s location in Chicago, according to chef-owner Jeff Mahin. Menu items are set to include egg white omelettes with shaved turkey breast and tomato avocado salsa; a sunrise burrito with scrambled eggs, spinach, cheddar and pico de gallo; and caramelized French toast.

Redwood to host cocktail-making series

The Bethesda Lane restaurant Redwood will kicked off its “Cocktail Making 101” series Feb. 24, with additional classes offered in March. Each class focuses on a specific spirit and delves into the alcohol’s composition and chemistry in order to teach guests how to best use it in cocktails. Classes are $25 each and tickets for the whiskey (March 3), tequila (March 10) and rum (March 17) classes can be ordered here. Classes start at 7 p.m. at the restaurant.

The Landmark movie theater at Bethesda Row is kicking off a new series featuring classic or cult movies on Wednesday nights. The series begins with Wes Anderson’s The Royal Tenenbaums on Feb. 25 and is scheduled to continue running each Wednesday. Show times are scheduled for 7 and 9:30 p.m.
