Noon, Feb. 21 – Heavy snow began to fall in Bethesda around 11 a.m. Saturday morning and the National Weather Service currently expects between 3 to 6 inches of snow to fall today and tonight
The weather service has issued a winter storm warning until 9 a.m. Sunday morning.
The heaviest snow is expected to fall this afternoon and then change to sleet and freezing rain this evening, according to the weather service.
"Snow and ice will cause hazardous traveling conditions through tonight and possibly into Sunday morning," warns the weather service.
The State Highway Administration is asking motorists to stay off the road while plows clear the snow today and tonight, but that if you must drive, "slow down, leave extra distance between vehicles, don't crowd the plow and focus on just driving."
