State Senator: State Funding For School Construction Unlikely In ’15 — County leaders, school board members and PTA representatives testified in Annapolis on Wednesday for a bill that would bring $20 million in annual state funding for MCPS construction projects. But State Sen. Nancy King said it’s unlikely the bill will pass this year. Lawmakers made a similar effort during the 2014 legislative session. [The Gazette]

Preventing Frozen Pipes — The sub-zero wind chills expected to last through Friday will likely mean a lot of frozen pipes and a lot of non-emergency calls for local firefighters. The Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service has put out a list of tips to prevent pipes from freezing in sprinkler systems. [MCFRS]

MoCo To Restore Local Stream — The Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection will do a restoration project for the Grosvenor stream in North Bethesda. Staff will show conceptual designs and answer other questions about the project at a public meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 25, from 7 p.m.-8 p.m. at Tilden Middle School (11211 Old Georgetown Road). Highways Master Plan Meeting — Planners are doing a comprehensive update of the county’s master plan for highways for the first time since 1955. The new master plan will actually be called the Master Plan of Highways and Transitways, and will include all planned transit projects and routes.
