EYA Plans to Complete First Grosvenor Heights Town Houses by End of This Year
The 99 town houses with elevators under construction on 33 acres at Grosvenor Lane and Fleming Avenue in Bethesda go on sale Feb. 21. Developer EYA is selling the units for $1.1 million to $1.6 million. First move-ins are expected by the end of the year.
The town houses drew considerable criticism from residents in the Fleming Park neighborhood during the county planning approval process. At the time, neighbors said the development didn’t fit into the largely single-family residential area. The town houses are being constructed on land that surrounds the historic Grosvenor Mansion.
The homes range from 2,500 to 3,500 square feet, have three or four bedrooms and include private two-car garages, rooftop terraces, chef kitchens, balconies, open floor plans, and brick and cedar exteriors.
EYA is promoting the development's proximity to major highways including I-270 and the Beltway as well as its natural setting as selling points.

Friendship Hospital for Animals Begins Opening Second-floor Expansion
Last month, the veterinary hospital in Friendship Heights passed inspection by the District’s Department of Health and began treating animals in its new second-floor expansion. The hospital kicked off construction on the expansion last year and expects to have it fully completed by spring. The expansion nearly doubles the hospital's space. This month, the hospital moved its "Client Education Series," which features presentations by veterinary professionals, to the second-floor reception area at the hospital. A free presentation about Veterinary Acupuncture will be held at 7 p.m. Feb. 25.

Red Hue Boutique to Close at Rockville Town Square
Red Hue is packing up the dresses at its brick-and-mortar store at Rockville Town Square. The clothing retailer announced on its Facebook page that its official last day will be Sunday. Since Jan. 29 the store has offered all merchandise at 60 percent off or more. On Feb. 7 the store hosted a goodbye party for its regulars.
The store's closing is another reminder of the tenuous nature of businesses at Federal Realty's Rockville Town Square, which has seen a slew of closings over the past year. However, two new restaurants are popping up at the square—the French bistro Ev & Maddy's opened last week while Chinese chef Peter Chang is planning to open his latest restaurant at the development in April—which should breathe some new life into the square.
