Bethesda Green seeks applicants for mentoring program

Bethesda Green’s business incubator is seeking applicants for its second round mentoring program aimed at helping start-ups get off the ground.
Robert Snyder, incubator manager, said the goal is to provide business advice, mentoring and an opportunity to put a smart plan before prospective investors. In 2014, Bethesda Green worked with 15 companies during the five-month program, which matches entrepreneurs with seasoned advisors.
The program is a collaboration between Bethesda Green and the Mentor Capital Network (formerly the William James Foundation). The project participants in 2014 ranged from companies attempting energy waste recapturing to eco-friendly landscaping.
Applications are being accepted through Jan. 15. A week later, Bethesda Green will announce companies selected to submit a five- to-seven page summary of their business plan, due by Feb. 20.

Face of the Week

As part of its rewrite of the county’s zoning regulations, the county Planning Board is inviting public comment on its staff’s draft revisions of subdivision rules. The regulations cover rules for subdividing property, an extremely contentious issue in recent years in many parts of the county as individual redevelopment and tear-downs occurred. The proposed regulations also describe l .s requirements for road and school capacities when new developments are built. Read the draft report here: http://www.montgomeryplanning.org/viewer.shtm#http://www.montgomeryplanning.org/development/subdivision_regulations/documents/12_23_14SubRegsDraft_web.pdf.

Email comments to subdivisionregs@montgomeryplanning.org.

A public meeting to discuss the draft report is planned before April, though no date has been announced. The planning board will begin its work on the proposed revisions later in the spring.
