A Chinese restaurant near Bethesda Row caught fire early Sunday morning, causing significant damage to the restaurant.

Firefighters were called to City Lights of China at 4935 Bethesda Avenue around 12:30 a.m. Sunday after a report of a small fire, which they extinguished, according to Montgomery County fire spokesman Pete Piringer.

Piringer reported the fire was ruled accidental and caused by an electrical issue. It caused an estimated $400,000 in damage to the restaurant and a health inspector has been requested to examine the damage, according to Piringer.

A sign posted on the front of the restaurant after the fire by manager Michael He says the restaurant "will be closed until further notice."
