(Updated at 1:25 p.m.) Firefighters have reopened the roads around Bethesda Row after a gas leak led to building evacuations on Monday.
Crews began evacuating Barnes & Noble at the corner of Woodmont Avenue and Bethesda Avenue around 12:50 p.m. after a leak in a four-inch high pressure gas line was discovered.
Police shut down parts of Woodmont Avenue and Bethesda Avenue around Bethesda Row, where office buildings and the Lot 31 construction site were also evacuated.
Firefighters quickly got the gas line shut off and had the roads reopened at about 1:15 p.m.
One person was injured during the evacuation, according to MCFRS spokesperson Pete Piringer, but no one became ill as a result of the gas leak.
