The brewery at Denizens Brewing Co. is now operational and the public is invited to come check it out.

The Silver Spring brewery and restaurant that has opened in phases over the summer and fall announced Thursday it will begin offering weekend tours of its downstairs brewery beginning Nov. 1.

“Guests will be able to take a small-group tour of the brewery, learn about the science behind our beers and enjoy a curated tasting session with five house brews,” Denizens spokeswoman Taylor Barnes said in an email.

The scheduled tours last about an hour and tickets are $10.

Denizens first opened its outdoor beer garden in July and then its barbecue kitchen at the beginning of August. It started brewing at the location at the end of August. The lower taproom, with a bar that features views of the brewery, opened Oct. 10.

The brewery is capable of brewing about 1,500 to 2,000 barrels of beer annually, according to Denizens co-owner Emily Bruno. A barrel is equivalent to two full kegs. The brew master is co-owner Jeff Ramirez, who previously worked at Mountain Sun Pubs & Breweries in Boulder, Colo.

Denizens is located at 1115 East West Highway.
